The Last of Us for Christians

The Last of Us for Christians

Mar 18, 2023

I am a fan of the HBO show "The Last of Us." However, it is important to note that the scenario depicted in the show is a work of fiction based on a video game by the same name and does not necessarily reflect what might happen in a real-life post-apocalyptic situation.

That being said, the Bible does offer guidance and reassurance for Christians in times of trouble and uncertainty.

One of the most famous verses in the Bible regarding protection is Psalm 91. This Chapter describes God as a refuge and a fortress for those who trust in Him. The psalm goes on to say that God will deliver his people from "the snare of the fowler" and "the deadly pestilence" and that he will cover them with his feathers, and under his wings, they will find refuge.

Another passage that may be relevant is Isaiah 41:10, which says, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." This verse emphasizes God's presence and support in times of trouble and encourages believers to trust in his strength and help.

It is worth noting that the Bible doesn't promise that Christians will be completely shielded from all harm or suffering in this life. Jesus himself warned his disciples that they would face trials and persecution in this world (John 16:33). However, the Bible does offer hope and comfort in the midst of these trials, reminding us that God is with us and that he is working all things together for good for those who love him (Romans 8:28).

Even after years of looking at movies such as “Dawn of the Dead,” “Outbreak,” and “I Am Legend.” We still did not believe that a virus would ever have the ability to rise to pandemic levels and shut down the world. Therefore I can’t say for sure that a fungus can not and will not have a similar effect. However, while we can't predict what might happen in a hypothetical scenario, Christians can take comfort in the promises and assurances of the Bible. God is a refuge and a fortress for His people, and He promises to be with us and strengthen us in times of trouble.
